Uganda: PPDA Wants Public Land Managed Well - AllAfrica.com

PUBLIC land should be known, zoned and transparently competed for, regardless of which organic structure supervises it, a procurance functionary have said.

"There is a job with the land, which is categorised as public land.

"This is a public asset, but only a few people in this state cognize where it is and how one can put in it. We believe public land should be zoned and allow out on a competitory basis," said Edgar Agaba, the caput of the Populace Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA).

Agaba was on Wednesday speech production during the 8th sector reappraisal workshop at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.

He blamed corruptness for the continued failure of public procurement.

He hoped that the Government Acts on PPDA's recommendations.

"I cognize the Hearer General keens over deficiency of execution by the Government of his ain recommendations.

"While direction of land is written in the Constitution, the Fundamental Law makes not forbid crystalline direction of it," Agaba told the participants.

He said there was demand to step up the PPDA probes to cover all complaints.
